RD TMT is a TMT bar and MS billet manufacturer in Mandya, Karnataka. One plant. Every heat tested.

RDTMT Steels India Private Limited was set up in 2013. The plant is at Somanahalli Industrial Area, Maddur Taluk, Mandya district, between Bengaluru and Mysuru. We melt, cast, roll and test on one site. Our office is at HSR Layout, Bengaluru.

We make Fe 500, Fe 550 and Fe 550D TMT steel bars from 8 mm to 32 mm, rolled on German TEMPCORE lines, and MS billets in 100 mm to 150 mm sections. Both carry the ISI mark under BIS licences to IS 1786:2008 and IS 14650:1999. Every heat is tested in our own NABL accredited lab before it is dispatched. See our TMT bar grades and sizes.

RD TMT Fe 550 bars are GreenPro certified by CII, and rated 5-star Green Steel by the Ministry of Steel. The bars are approved by Tamil Nadu PWD, KPCL, BDA, Chennai Metro and Karnataka PWD. We supply contractors, developers and government housing programmes through KRIDL, DRDA and APSHCL tenders.

    The rolling line at the RD TMT plant
    Chapter 01 · Founded

    One mill in Mandya, Karnataka

    RDTMT Steels India Private Limited is set up in Karnataka. Work starts on an integrated steel plant at Somanahalli Industrial Area, Maddur Taluk, Mandya. Melting, casting, rolling and testing are planned for one site, so the steel never leaves our hands before it is checked.

    Chapter 02 · Technology

    German TEMPCORE rolling lines go live

    The rolling mill starts on German TEMPCORE technology. Each bar is water-quenched on the surface while the core stays hot. The result is a hard outer layer over a soft, bendable core. That is what makes a TMT bar both strong and easy to bend on site.

    Chapter 03 · GreenPro and government approvals

    GreenPro certified. Approved by Tamil Nadu PWD and KPCL

    CII awards the GreenPro Ecolabel to RD TMT Fe 550 bars in all seven sizes, 8 mm to 32 mm. In March, Andhra Pradesh State Housing Corporation places an order for 464 tonnes of bars. In July, the Tamil Nadu PWD approves RD TMT Fe 550 bars for government works. In September, Karnataka Power Corporation approves the RD TMT brand for all its works.

    Chapter 04 · ISO systems and metro approval

    ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 certified. Chennai Metro and BDA approve

    In July, the plant is certified to ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 for quality, environment and safety. The same month, DRDA Madurai accepts our bid to supply bars for government housing in all thirteen blocks of the district. In September, Chennai Metro Rail gives a no-objection for RD TMT bars. In December, the Bangalore Development Authority approves RD TMT Fe 550 and Fe 550D bars for its housing projects.

    Chapter 05 · Green steel and NABL lab

    5-star Green Steel. NABL accredited lab. KRIDL tender won

    In February, KRIDL accepts our bid to supply Fe 550 TMT bars to its Bengaluru, BBMP and Mysuru zones. In July, the Ministry of Steel rates RD TMT bars 5 star under the Green Steel scheme, at 0.63 tonnes of CO2 per tonne of steel. In August, our in-house testing lab is NABL accredited to ISO/IEC 17025:2017.

How the bar is made

German TEMPCORE rolling

Billets are cast in our own furnaces and rolled on German TEMPCORE lines. The surface is quenched hard and the core stays ductile. Every bar carries the RD TMT name and the ISI mark.

How the bar is checked

Every heat tested in our NABL lab

Our in-house lab is NABL accredited to ISO/IEC 17025:2017. Every heat is tested for chemistry, yield strength, elongation and bend before it is cleared. The test certificate goes out with every dispatch.

Delivered across South India

We supply TMT bars from the plant in Mandya and the office in HSR Layout, Bengaluru. Sites in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh are served by our own dispatch team. A late lorry stops a whole crew, so we plan the delivery date with you.

  • Contractors and developers. B.G. Shirke, Kalpataru and other builders buy RD TMT bars for campuses, towers and infrastructure work.
  • Government housing. We supply PMAY-G and state housing schemes through KRIDL in Karnataka, DRDA Madurai in Tamil Nadu and APSHCL in Andhra Pradesh.
  • Public works and metro. RD TMT bars are approved for Tamil Nadu PWD, KPCL, BDA and Chennai Metro projects.

Health and safety

Everyone goes home safe. Every shift.

A steel plant is a hard place to work. Our safety system is certified to ISO 45001:2018 since July 2025. PPE is mandatory on the floor. Hazards are marked where they are. Every shift gets safety training, and it is repeated, not filed away.
